Simple Traditional Christmas Decorations

Welcome to the second part of my Christmas tour! If you just came from Kristi’s blog over at The Pickled Rose, I bet you’re already swooning so hopefully I can keep that going. Her home is truly a magical winter wonderland during the holidays!

Last week I shared the boho inspired Christmas decor in my formal living room which is my personal favorite, but Mr. CG loves traditional so adding pops of red is as traditional as this gal can get. He takes claim to the family room where we have our TV so I have to refrain from putting too much of my preference in there (read: white). I test the waters – a lot. :)

I have to say though, I am glad that I took a stance and finally painted the brick white (catch that blog post here), because you can actually see the Christmas décor this year. It wasn’t even fun to decorate before because it seemed like everything was lost against the red brick.

I’m not the go-all-out type with holiday decorating, so you won’t walk in and see my house completely decked out. I like to incorporate a few pieces here and there into my everyday decor, and that is really easy to do during Christmas with pops of red and greenery to pull in green.

It took Mr. CG a minute to warm up to the live garland from Pottery Barn because it’s not “traditional” enough for him, but if he doesn’t hate it then I consider it a win.

This is the first year we’ve had a bar cart, and I’m still tinkering with that, but it’s fun and festive. It would also be fun to turn this into a hot cocoa bar!

I have the chairs positioned to face the fireplace so we can enjoy the fire while sipping our two favorite winter adult beverages on occasion – whisky and wine. ;)

I hope you’ve enjoyed your time here and I’m so glad you stopped by! Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could all share a cup of hot cocoa together?! Next up on the tour is the amazing Kayla over at Plum Pretty Decor and Design, so whether you’re sipping coffee, wine, water, or eating popcorn you’ll want to save a bit while you go enjoy her gorgeous holiday inspiration.

Don't forget to pin your favorite photo to save for later, and tell me in the comments below what your favorite tradition is this time of year!

XO,
Christina
